About Image:

In God We Trust is a series of formal photographic portraits that construct, much in the same way a Hollywood movie would, a fictionalised account of life in the United States armed forces, focusing on four of the five branches: the United States Army, the United States Navy, the United States Air Force and the United States Marine Corps. In God We Trust adopts the construction methods of Hollywood cinema utilising actors, props and sets to construct meaning; framing these devices within the traditional photographic portrait. In essence In God We Trust is an essay on technique, it examines notions of lighting, composition, framing, and mise-en-scène, using characters found in Hollywood screen culture, in this instance the uniformed personnel of the United States military. In God We Trust is fiction that examines image making technique.
